Though not professionally trained, I have always had a love for art and architecture, and because of this my drawings are mainly of architectural subjects, as reflects in my portfolio.
Working mainly from photographs I do find that it does help occasionally to take a few preliminary sketches. Sometimes you can’t get the clarity of small detail and light from a photograph.
I work in Pen and Ink on textured watercolour paper, this helps when you are trying to give a textured look to the masonry and trees. Because I use textured paper, I use Faber-Castell drawing pens; I find that using a nib, it tends to sometimes flick on the pits of the paper and depending on the stage of the drawing, this can be a bit of a headache. Finally I apply a series of Indian ink washes to give the subject the depth, feel and hopefully the character of the original subject.
Please see our range of products to see what we produce using the pictures in the gallery. If you like what you see and would like to commission an original drawing then please contact me through the enquiries page to discuss your requirements.
